silicones giving you the right one for the job Different jobs require a different solution. For instance, if temperature resistance is important, then AJett Red Silicone will be the one to use as an adhesive or sealant (it can resist up to 260°C continuously and 315°C intermittently). For automotive jobs, use sensor-safe AJett Blue Silicone. For general, flexible sealing and bonding, choose between AJett White and AJett Black Silicone. And if you want a low odour, non-corrosive silicone, take a look at AJett Grey Silicone. These silicones are also excellent replacements for cut gaskets, working into any desired shape and filling gaps and irregularities between surfaces to make an instant seal that prevents leaks. And, being quality silicones, they and do not crack – shrinkage is minimal and they cure at room temperature. They can be used straight from the tube or cartridge. All AJett silicone sealants are classed as acetoxy curing, which means they harden by reaction to moisture in the atmosphere, the cure rate depending upon temperature and humidity. They combine quality with a competitive price and are widely used for construction and industrial applications because of their high and low temperature stability, colour stable formulations and exceptional resistance to UV, smog and ozone. In addition to the building and manufacturing sectors, acetoxy cure silicones are also used in homes and offices for window and door weather seals, and as mildew-resistant kitchen and bath sealants. So, to meet your needs, here are five fine silicone sealants. AJett Blue Silicone RTV gasket maker Sensor-safe silicone. Typical uses Making any size or shape of gasket. Ideal for oil pans, valve covers, timing chain covers, engine side covers, transmission pans, oil pumps and differential housings. Can be used to dress pre-cut gaskets to increase their reliability. Other information One component, room temperature curing and non-sag formulation that can be used straight from the tube. Resists synthetic oils, anti-freeze, grease and transmission fluids. Remains flexible, waterproof and tough. Pressure resistant. Good adhesion to most surfaces. No re-torque necessary. Easy to apply. Complies with MIL-A-46106A. Colour/appearance Blue , non-slump pastel Cure system Acetoxy (atmospheric cure) Skin over time 10 minutes at 25°C, 50% RH Tack free time 17 minutes at 25°C, 50% RH Full cure, 3 mm depth 24 hours at 25°C, 50% RH Application temperature 5 to 40°C Packaging 85g tube on a blister pack with application nozzle TOP OF THE PAGE AJett Grey Silicone gasket maker Low odour, non-corrosive silicone. Typical uses Making any size or shape of gasket. Ideal gasket replacement for cam or transmission covers, thermostat housings, intake manifold seals, oil pans and oil pumps. Not recommended for head gaskets. Other information One component, non-sag formulation that can be used straight from the tube. Cures at room temperature – this silicone has a low odour and is non-corrosive. It resists most automotive fluids (but not gasoline) and remains flexible, waterproof and tough. Temperature and pressure resistant. Good adhesion to most surfaces. No re-torque necessary. Easy to apply, fast curing at room temperature when exposed to moisture in the air. Complies with MIL-A-46106B. Colour/appearance Grey , non-slump pastel Cure system Acetoxy (atmospheric cure) Skin over time 5 minutes at 20°C, 65% RH Tack free time About 15 minutes at 20°C, 65% RH Full cure, 2 mm depth 24 hours at 25°C, 65% RH Application temperature 1 to 30°C Temperature resistance -40 to +180°C Maximum gap filling width 30 mm Maximum gap filling depth 5 mm Hardness after curing 20 ± 5 Shore A Tensile strength after curing 1.2 MPa on film Packaging 85g tube on a blister pack with application nozzle TOP OF THE PAGE AJett Red Silicone adhesive sealant Heat resistant silicone – up to 315°C intermittent. Typical uses Making any size or shape of gasket. Ideal for sealing joints around chimneys, cookers, ovens and bag filters on smoke stacks; encapsulating heating elements in appliances. It can also be used for automotive and aerospace gasketing, including oil and water sealing applications, as well as to dress pre-cut gaskets to increase their reliability. Other uses include bonding, sealing, potting, encapsulating and as a protective coating where parts must perform at high temperatures. Other information One component, room temperature curing and non-sag, no-run formulation. Solvent free. Resists aging, cracking, discolouring, shrinking and migrating caused by thermal cycling. Also resists synthetic oils, anti-freeze, grease and transmission fluids. Remains flexible, waterproof and tough. Pressure resistant. Good adhesion to most surfaces, including glass, glazed ceramic tiles, aluminium and metal. No re-torque necessary. Can be used straight from the cartridge and applied overhead or on side walls. Complies with US military and FDA requirements and is listed by the US National Sanitation Foundation under Standard 51 for direct contact with food. Colour/appearance Red , non-slump pastel Cure system Acetoxy (atmospheric cure) Skin over time 10 minutes at 25°C Tack free time 17 minutes at 25°C Full cure, 3 mm depth 24 hours at 25°C, 50% RH Application temperature 5 to 40°C Temperature resistance -50 to +260°C constant; to 315°C intermittent Elongation at break 600% Hardness after curing 26 Shore A Tensile strength after curing 350 psi Specific gravity 1.04 Approval Complies with MIL-A-46106A and FDA regulation 21, CFR 177.2600 Packaging 315 ml cartridge; extension nozzle included TOP OF THE PAGE AJett Black Silicone adhesive sealant AJett White Silicone adhesive sealant General purpose silicone. Typical uses Flexible seals and replacing any size or shape of gasket. Ideal for bonding inner glass panes of microwaves, draught proofing and for building and construction joints which require a colour matched sealant, including joints with high movement between different building materials such as brickwork and concrete, or in humid surroundings. It can also be used to seal glass to powder coated aluminium, PVC or painted wood, for sealing around cold store areas, air condition ducts and air circulation systems and for sealing around sanitary areas, baths, bidets, washbasins, showers, sinks and work tops in kitchens and utility rooms. Other information One component, non-sag formulation that can be used straight from the tube. I(t can resist ultraviolet light and most common fluids. Remains flexible, waterproof and tough. Pressure resistant. Cures to a tough, flexible rubber. Good adhesion to many surfaces, including glass, metals and most common engineering plastics. Permanent colour. Good ozone resistance. Easy to apply, fast curing at room temperature when exposed to moisture in the air. Has US military and FDA approvals. Colour/appearance White , non-slump pastel Cure system Acetoxy (atmospheric cure) Skin over time 7 minutes at 25°C, 50% RH Tack free time 20 minutes at 25°C, 50% RH Full cure, 3 mm depth 24 hours at 25°C, 50% RH Temperature resistance -60 to +180°C constant; up to 205°C intermittent Elongation at break 540% Hardness after curing 25 Shore A Tensile strength after curing 2.3 MPa Dielectric strength 21.6 kV/mm Specific gravity 1.04 Approval Complies with MIL-A-46106A and FDA regulation 21, CFR 177.2600 Packaging 85g tube on a blister pack with application nozzle TOP OF THE PAGE Advanced Adhesives (UK) Limited Chater Lea Buildings, Icknield Way, Letchworth, SG6 1EZ, England Phone UK 01462 677060 Fax UK 01462 677070 Phone International +44 146 26 77 060 Fax International +44 146 26 77 070 E-mail info@ajett.com Web www.ajett.com TOP OF THE PAGE | Threadlocking | Retaining | Pipe sealing | Gasketing |
